As Lead Artist, you will be responsible for both the artistic quality of our games and the general running of the art team.  You will work on one main project but also have an active hand in smaller and future projects.  You will train and mentor new and junior staff to help build the art team into an efficient and well-rounded team capable of delivering high quality games art.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Be a passionate force in developing the look and style of our games
  • Develop and improve art pipelines
  • Take ownership of responsibilities such as prototyping, scheduling, and R&D into new approaches
  • Manage and mentor the internal art team
  • Take an active role in choosing and managing external art partners
  • Communicate with all disciplines to resolve issues and improve game quality


Requirements

  • Experience in a lead or senior role within the field of games art, ideally 3D environment or character art.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of modern game content creation workflows (e.g. Blender, ZBrush, Substance Designer)
  • Solid understanding of the Unity and Unreal game engines
  • Knowledge of performance profiling and optimisation
  • Ability to adapt to various art styles
  • Great verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey an artistic vision as well as provide constructive feedback to others
  • Passion for games and game development


Advantageous experience:

  • Familiarity with rigging and animation
  • Dressing 3D scenes with an eye for story and composition
  • Experience using lighting to create a mood
  • Traditional art skills
